Phillips, who has an NL-leading 27 RBIs this month, was hurt while fielding Grady Sizemore's sharp grounder that ended the eighth inning of Saturday's 7-6 Cleveland win. He immediately left that game and sat out Sunday while getting further examinations. Analysis: Phillips hopes to try playing with the injury, he said. "I just need to give it a couple of days," Phillips said Sunday. "It is really swollen right now." Phillips owners will have to hope this won't slow down the red-hot second baseman. Phillips has hit .350 (28-for-80) with five home runs in May, boosting his overall average from .188 to .275. |
